FIRECOMMS REPRESENTATION AGREEMENT WITH OXUS TO LEVERAGE EARLY ADOPTER MARKET IN CHILE

Austin, Texas — April 27, 2009 — Firecomms Ltd., a leading developer of high speed Plastic Optical Fiber (POF) transceivers and Surface Emitting Lasers (VCSELs), today announces that it has signed an agreement with OXUS to promote and sell plastic optical fiber solutions in Chile, the technology leader in Latin America.

The representative firm, which specializes in customer specific applications, will market and sell Firecomms’ full range of POF transceiver products which are rapidly being adopted by developers of equipment for the consumer electronics, industrial, and automotive networks worldwide.

"Recognized for its technical expertise and creative approach to technology solutions, OXUS is the perfect partner to introduce Firecomms Plastic Optical Fiber home networking solutions in Chile, a country known as an early adopter of new technology," says Firecomms' vice president of sales and marketing for the Americas, Lawrence Thorne."“In addition to the advantages our POF transceivers provide to home networking, these same devices offer numerous cost and performance benefits to the country's many commercial premise networking and rugged industrial applications, making Chile an ideal market for POF."

"OXUS believes that fiber is the future for in-home communications and networks in Chile, with its increasing demand for high-speed home and commercial networks," says Pedro Fuentes, CEO of OXUS. "After researching several solutions, we have concluded that Firecomms POF solution, which features the company’s innovative OptoLock® technology, makes the most sense for the Chilean market."

Fuentes adds, "In addition to suitability for high-speed IPTV networking, Firecomms POF solutions offers low-cost implementation and an ease of installation that is not available with other technologies. Firecomms unique OptoLock POF port is the key to these benefits."

Firecomms leads the development of devices to drive POF, a low-cost optical alternative to copper cabling. Due to its ease of use, large core tolerances, and low costs, POF is enjoying significant growth in a wide range of applications. Created for consumer, industrial, and automotive applications in which plastic fiber can be used more easily and at lower cost than copper or glass fiber, POF is now used in millions of small area networks, such as those in use in many car models, and is rapidly gaining ground in home network and point-to-point interconnection. According to market research by Information Gatekeepers, the POF market is estimated to be worth over $1 billion per year by the end of 2009.
